Repairing a Garden Gate

A little bit of ground movement over the years, had caused this gate to move and drop out of line.

Causing the fittings to also become out of line, it was starting to break apart, and some of the wood was beginning to rot.

I began by removing the old rotten noggins and adding a large upright, to strengthen the frame work.

And another upright piece of wood, to strengthen the gate.

I then removed the gate, cut back the worst of the damage off the bottom of the gate. Treated with 'Wet Rot Hardener' and put a couple of coats of paint on the very bottom.

Put it all back together and rehung the gate
